Camouflage Scar Repair with Scalp MicroPigmentation
Generally, modern hair transplant techniques leave no scars too visible, but not always. Contemporary techniques such as those that use only follicular units are the most appropriate. The first of this type of surgeries is the Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation (FUT), which leaves a thin line on the removed scalp area. The second of these surgeries is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), leaving white spots in the junction, each one corresponding to the follicular unit removed.
When traditional techniques of hair transplant surgery are used or when modern methods are performed by non-specialists, scarring can be an issue. The scarring leaves a rounded white scar; that may cause an elevation or depression due to a stretched or thickened donor scar.
For significant scarring, many techniques are available to smooth them. The most effective methods are scar revision and cortisone injections. The first one changes the direction of a hair transplanted scar and camouflages it by transplanting the piece directly into the scar back again. The second method can either flatten the scars with cortisone injections or raise depressed scars with dermal fillers. Also, dermabrasion or laser treatments are a good option.
As each case is very different from each other, the solution offered is based on the type of scarring. However, a non-invasive available technique is Micro Hair Tattooing. This technique is a unique solution that doesn’t involve surgery, because its base on coloring scared areas, providing the appearance of full hair in the affected area.

Scalp Pigmentation by Dr. Andrea Echeverry
Hair Pigment Center in Florida has helped hundreds of men from around the world to leave their hair loss problems behind for good. Even those who have undergone hair restoration surgery, have worn hair systems or have scars or skin conditions can benefit from Scalp MicroPigmentation.
Dr. Echeverry will analyze the skin’s texture taking into account any elevation or depression that will affect how the color is perceived. Raised and depressed areas may cast minute shadows on the skin making it appear darker. The ability to evaluate the skin’s health, elasticity, thickness, opaqueness or translucency will determine the methodology used to micropigment the area. It is important to understand the anatomical and physiological differences in the skin of different skin types and how these differences affect the way coloring agents heal in the skin.
What is Scalp MicroPigmentation?
Scalp MicroPigmentation is a highly specialized process during which tiny deposits of pigment are positioned within the dermal layer of the skin. When applied by a skilled practitioner, these deposits replicate the look of real shaven hair.
What is the process?
All clients are invited to participate in a free consultation session with a member of our team. In most cases these consultations are conducted face to face, however for clients who are not located in South Florida, consultations can be completed via email or Skype if preferred.
Therefore, anyone seeking this procedure should only consider specialists with significant experience performing paramedical camouflage procedures. Dr. Andrea Echeverry, with over 10 years of hands-on scalp micropigmentation experience, has performed well over 10,000 paramedical camouflage procedures and has lectured and trained other practitioners on the procedures.
